Simple Entryway Storage + Organization

The entryway in many homes tends to become the catch all place for everything. From shoes, to backpacks, to things the kids carry in from the car and throw on the floor, and much more. Entryway organization is no easy task when multiple things need a place to find their home. I finally found the perfect system for our entryway that is both functional and cute!

This post was created in collaboration with Canvas Champ. All opinions are my own. You can view my full disclosure policy here.

Entryway Ideas

Our entryway has been a place that I have wanted to lend some focus for a LONG time. I have had a vision for the area forever, but just haven’t had the chance to execute it. When Jase started school, my desire to give it a good overhaul just became even more pressing. The back to school chaos was taking a toll on my entryway and it showed. The lack of shoe storage and school paper organization was getting to be overwhelming. So I finally set out to find some functional entryway ideas to make this space really work for our family.

Functional Entryway Ideas

When you think entryway ideas, you may just think of something that makes a statement when someone enters your home. But you really need to think about what can also be functional for your family. For me, I knew that meant I needed a designated space for shoes, kids’ backpacks, and school papers that I needed to keep track of. If it wasn’t right on the way out the door, I would likely forget about it. Not only that, but I was tired of the kids dropping everything on the floor once they walked in the door and being left with a massive pile to deal with later.

Entryway Storage

Settling on the perfect Entryway Storage happened to be one of the hardest tasks for me. I mainly needed a place to store shoes, but I couldn’t find the perfect baskets that didn’t cost a ton. I finally settled on simple plastic baskets for shoes because they were less likely to be damaged! You can’t even tell they are plastic and fit in the space well.

I also found some wall organizers to hold the kid’s papers and folders they bring back from school. If I needed to follow up with it at a later date, or return it after a few days, having it right by their backpack helped me not forget. The baskets are currently holding Kleenex and Paper towels that need to be sent to school with the kids on the first day. So they have ample room for storage which made them the perfect entryway organization piece.

With a few hooks for coats and backpacks, the entryway storage was complete. The hooks are easy for the kids to hang their belongings on and make things simple to grab as we walk out the door.

Entryway Bench

Our entryway bench was my biggest hang up with our old space. It just didn’t have enough shoe storage and started feeling awkward in our entryway. I had envisioned building a bench that went across the entire entryway but was worried that it wouldn’t fit the space well. Our entryway is narrow and long and I didn’t want the entryway bench to overcrowd the space. I decided to risk it for the sake of giving it a shot and I am so glad we did! I love the way it turned out and I don’t feel like it clutters the space at all! It complimented the area perfectly and offered just that touch it needed.

Entryway Decor

Finding the perfect pieces to tie the entryway together was the last step. I knew I wanted to give a touch of our family to the space. We ordered these beautiful Canvas prints of the kids from Canvas Champ and they were the perfect touch to finish out the space. Canvas Champ offers the best quality, custom prints. From the source materials, to the printing process, to the handcrafted frames, they take pride in being the finest. You have the option to work with your own designer for the ordering process and it is easy, fast, and efficient! Their shipping is lighting fast and their prices can’t be beat!

I was so impressed with the ordering process and ability to customize so many details of your canvas. There are many sizes to choose from or you can customize your size to fit your space. You can also choose the wrap and border to your canvas which is an option I really loved having. I don’t particularly like the canvas to wrap around and loved the option to add a boarder. They even offer hanging canvas’ which I am definitely going to order the next time! You can choose the hardware you want to hang your canvas and even put a laminating coat over it to protect your picture. This was a big deal to me having kids around! I love knowing that I can trust the quality of the product and it will last for years to come. If anything happens to it, they are backed by a 99+ year warranty! That can’t be beat!

Canvas Champ manufactures everything in house. Every canvas is handmade in India and has a solid backing to ensure they never sag. The wood is also sourced for their frames from eco-friendly pine forests to ensure sustainability. Canvas Champ seeks to go far above their competitors in what they offer!

The canvas prints of the children are sure to be loved for many years and they brought our space to completion perfectly. With a few throw pillows and a basket to hold all the library books, this space is a new favorite. I know that with all the back to school chaos just around the corner, I’ll finally feel like I can control the massive pile dump in our entryway.

>>Pin for Later<<

Getting the entryway under control before back to school season is a great way to keep some of the chaos away. It creates a space for everything to be easily grabbed when leaving and a place where everything belongs when you get home. Gone are the days of the massive piles and things being out of control. A few crazy simple storage and organization ideas for your entryway can really make a difference.

Be sure to keep an eye out on Instagram to win a canvas of your very own! Word has it there will be a giveaway very soon.

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
