Preparing for Back to School
If I have learned anything about preparing for back to school season it’s this: prepare way before school starts. This year I even pulled a rookie mistake thinking since school started on a Thursday, the week of would be ample time to prepare. Four days is never enough time! Give yourself plenty of time to get organized for back to school and prepare the kids for their back to school routine. A few simple hacks for parents can make all the difference to helping you kick of the year right:

Prepare before school starts!
Getting the kids back in routine for school can take time, and the more time you give yourself and them, the better. Establish a morning routine to help your mornings go smoothly and start two weeks before school. This way you have time to work out all the kinks and get the kids in a good morning rhythm. You will be so glad you took the time to establish a back to school routine when school starts!
Label School Supplies with Inchbug
When it comes to kids and school, labels will become your best friend. I had no idea how much school supplies would be needed when starting school. You may be tempted to roll your eyes when you see your child needs 48 pencils or 5 boxes of 24 count crayons, but take a moment to think of how kids treat their belongings. The kids really go through all their school supplies. Crayons break, pencils don’t last as long, and things get lost. I am no longer surprised by the school supply lists!
Most classrooms request that you label all school supplies and clothing. There may be a few items that are used for communal school supplies, for us that is glue sticks, but everything else you have to label. The labeling can become exhausting when you have a pile of school supplies in front of you. The sooner you can start on labeling your school supplies, the better. Most classrooms will also ask that you label loose clothing, like coats, jackets, hats, etc. With so many kids something is bound to be misplaced.
Inchbug Labels
Inchbug has made my life SO easy when it comes to labeling all the school supplies. With two kids, I could spend hours labeling coats, supply boxes, pencils, and more. Inchbug labels can be fully customized to fit your needs! The orbit and adhesive labels are also dishwasher safe and the clothing tag pals last through the wash!
I loved having the option to add a monogram with a cute style to the kids labels making them extra fun! The color choices were adorable and have been hoping to come up with an excuse to order some for me! In just minutes I had all the kid’s school supplies labeled and packed in their bag. I labeled a few of their jackets that I had hanging up and set the labels in our entryway so I would remember to label the rest come fall. Inchbug labels can be used for more than just school supplies, you can use them on toys too!
Back to School Organization:
Get yourself organized. Even if you aren’t a type A everything has its place type of person, getting organized will save you so much stress. Create a space for backpacks, school papers, homework to be done, clothes to be set out, and more. Whatever seems to eat up time in your day, find a way to get it organized. If something tends to be overwhelming to keep track of, find a way to organize it. This is a huge key to helping you manage the Back to School chaos.
1. School Clothing Organization
We implemented a drawer system for clothes every day and it made a huge difference! A few plastic drawers, day of the week labels, and you only have to pick school clothes out once! Every Sunday evening I check the weather for the week and then pick the kids’ clothes out for the week ahead. Each day has a designated drawer and the kids know exactly where to grab their clothes when they get ready in the morning.

2. School Backpack Organization
Nothing is worse than running around looking for backpacks, shoes, and school folders when you need to get out the door on time. Create a designated place for backpacks to be kept and items that need to be brought back to school can be easily grabbed on the way out the door. Our entryway was the catch all place for our family, so I just made the spaces functional to help!
3. School Snack Organization
One of my favorite hacks for snacks is to use a supply box! You can easily fit the weeks snacks in a small supply box and keep it in your child’s backpack. The supply box keeps all the snacks together, helps snacks not to get crushed, and you only have to pick it out once a week! I have my kids fill their snack box Sunday night with five snacks for the week ahead. Then they can choose what they want each day and I don’t have to worry about forgetting each morning!
