The Secret to Keeping Your Kids Healthy This School Year

Back to school season is back to germ season. Before you know it those little ones are kindly sharing the very things you wish they wouldn’t! It’s time to talk about keeping your kids healthy this school year! I promise, it’s not as impossible as it sounds. Spoiler alert…it’s also not THAT big of a secret!

The secret to keeping your kids healthy during school with KidzShake! Check out these simple tips to boost your kid's immune system during school!

The Secret to Keeping Your Kids Healthy This School Year

This post was created in collaboration with KidsShake. You can view my full disclosure here.

Prepare a Good Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, make sure your child starts off with a healthy breakfast! Your child’s breakfast should be packed full of protein to keep them full longer and always include some healthy options. Kids can get irritable and have trouble focusing when they feel hungry. Breakfast doesn’t have to be elaborate every morning, just making sure you offer something that is healthy and they’ll be sure to eat is important! Some of our favorites are scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, waffles, and KidzShake Smoothies!

Sleep Schedule

Keeping your children on a good sleep routine is one of the most important things you can do for your child. Sleep is so important for their growth and it has the ability to effect everything from their concentration, attitudes, and health. Getting enough rest can keep their immune system strong and help them fight off any of those back to school germs they get faced with.

Vitamins and Probiotics

All the nutrients our body needs to function at it’s very best can’t be received from our food alone, the same with our kids. We need to supplement their diets with vitamins that can help their body grow healthy and strong. Various vitamins accomplish different things and it’s important to fuel your child’s body with what they need! Probiotics are also an essential part of your child’s nutrition. Probiotics help to maintain the natural balance of the gastrointestinal system and replenish the body’s good bacteria. KidzShake is packed full of both vitamins and probiotics making it an easy option to fuel your child with vital nutrients! Both play a vital role in your child’s development!

Teach Them How to Stop the Spread of Germs

Washing hands and covering their mouth with their sleeve when they cough or sneeze is a great way to stop the spread of germs! Teaching our children the importance of both places the responsibility in their hands, but also gives them the knowledge they need to stay healthy!

Keep Them Active

Kids do a lot of sitting at school, so they need to be able to get outside and run around too! Recess isn’t enough time for the kids to be out playing and burning energy, so find fun ways to get outside as a family after school. When the weather gets too cold outside there are always fun indoor options to get your family up and moving too. Being more active as a family has been increasingly important to me and I have found that it always makes some of the most fun memories!

Offer Healthy After School Snacks

After school snacks are a big deal in this home. My kids are READY for snack in the afternoon whether it is a younger sibling waking from nap, or the older kid coming home from school, snack time is a big deal. Offering snacks every day can make it complicated to provide healthy options that can fuel and replenish your child’s body. This is one of my favorite times of day to go to our KidzShake options. With hundreds of recipes, we can have a different after school snack every day! From smoothie bowls, to frozen treats, to simple smoothies there are so many options!

KidzShake

I’ve mentioned KidzShake being a huge part of how we kick the school year off with a healthy start. KidzShake fills the gaps in our children’s diet which is often caused by unbalanced nutrition. We all know how hard it is to keep our kids eating healthy, especially when they start school. Mornings are rushed and lunches we aren’t in control of. KidzShake is packed full of vital nutrients for kids to give them lasting energy and support muscle growth. Not only is it packed full of vitamins and probiotics, it’s scientifically formulated to super power your child’s growth and development! In every KidzShake formula you will find Probiotics, Fiber, B vitamins, Vitamin D, Organic Protein, Vitamins C, Magnesium, Potassium, and Calcium! So much good stuff that your child needs to stay healthy all year long!

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
