We know that grace is a gift that we don’t deserve, but sometimes we abuse that gift.
Grace isn’t an allowance to do things that we know are not morally acceptable. Yet sometimes people take advantage of that. Knowing that God’s grace is always ready to be extended, it’s easy to be tempted to justify things you are doing with the thought, “I know this may not be the best choice, but God will forgive me anyways.”
Have you ever been in a situation where you offered to do something nice for someone, but they took you for granted. Maybe you offered to buy them lunch once, but every time after that they expected you to pay for them? Or maybe you offered to carpool somewhere, but every time after that they expected you to drive and wouldn’t help out with gas just once. It doesn’t feel good to be put in a situation where you feel like you aren’t being treated fairly.
It’s not fair for us to take grace for granted. When we are at a place where we are taking the grace God is giving us for granted, than we aren’t truly experiencing the gift grace is. We aren’t understanding the depth of grace. We aren’t experiencing the vastness of grace.
But even more than that, we aren’t living out our walk with Christ to it’s greatest potential.
When we take advantage of grace, we are missing out tremendously on a deeper relationship with Christ.
