How To Speak Life Into Your Mama Heart {Giveaway}

Lady-Laura-Kate-Hero

I love filling my home with words that speak to my heart. As a stay at home mama, I need things that speak life into my heart on the days that seem never ending. I knew that looking around my house to see uplifting messages around me was going to be really important in surviving these days at home. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love being home with my babies, but it can feel like a very draining place to be. There isn’t someone speaking life into my heart on the weary days, there isn’t someone telling me how good of a job I am doing. I have to be intentional about speaking life into my own heart to strengthen me through these early years with my children.

After my husband and I filled our daughter’s nursery with words that we wanted to speak into her life, we knew that was how we wanted to shape the rest of our home. I have been intentionally looking for pieces to put in my home that speak to atmosphere I want in our home.

Fill your home with words that speak life into your heart as a mom.

Lady and Laura Kate has just the perfect pieces to add to your home to accomplish just that. Every little piece Kate has to offer in her shop is designed so beautifully. You can instantly see the heart behind what she does in how beautifully designed her work is. You know that she pays close attention to detail. I instantly knew that bringing her work into my home would accomplish that uplifting atmosphere I was looking for.

I wanted to remember how important these days at home are. That even on the days that I am exhausted and overwhelmed, that what I am doing at home is the most important thing I could be doing. That the memories I will make at home with my kids would be the best memories I could make.

Hear from Kate herself about the heart behind her beautiful shop.

How did you get started with LLK Shop?

I use to work in a call center which was painfully boring and ended up messing around in Pic Monkey and I created a couple of free art prints for my blog. From there I purchased a font pack from Creative Market with the extended licensing so if I wanted to sell something I created I could. I also began doodling and practicing hand lettering at work. All of this was a way to have a creative outlet from my unfulfilling job. Eventually I felt the Lord calling me to open an Etsy shop and after battling with insecurities that no one would buy anything I opened the shop.

What does your shop specialize in creating?

Digital art prints and note cards. While digital keeps cost less on both my end and my customers I hope to one day be able to offer physical products. With the current busyness of my life and the small amount of money I have to spend on my shop, digital is the best choice for me right now. I also hope to eventually branch out into doing things like canvases and notepads! My work is a combination of typography and hand lettering. I’m slowly figuring out how to get my work that I make on a piece of paper into a digital file on my computer. I’m getting better at it so I’m hoping to add more of those pieces into the shop! I have always love quotes, which is why that’s mostly what I create. I think they can bring so much encouragement into your life especially when they are somewhere that you can see them every day. I hope to bring that encouragement to others through my work.

What are some of your favorite things to create

Art prints using God’s Word. There’s just nothing better than seeing Truth in your home every day!

Where does the name behind your shop come from?

Laura Kate is my name and Lady is our sweet rescue pup who is always into everything I’m doing. My husband is military so there are times when it’s just Lady and Laura Kate hanging out working on projects!

What else can you share with us about the HEART behind your shop?

Deep down I just love to create! Through prayer God really showed me that that love is from Him because I’m made in the image of THE Creator! At times I get in slumps but I’ll always pick it back up! The shop is just an extension of who God created me to be and it’s a work in progress just like I am!

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
