Heavens to Betsy {Shop Spotilight & Giveaway}

The moment I saw Betsy’s beautiful work displayed in her Etsy shop, I immediately knew the perfect piece to have her create for our sweet girl’s nursery. If you stopped by the blog last week, you probably came across this post sharing the importance of choosing a name for our children. My husband and I care so much about the meaning behind each name chosen for our children, and we put so much thought into what we would be speaking over our child, why wouldn’t we want that displayed in her room for her to see?!

Betsy owns and operates her shop, Heavens to Betsy, which specializes in hand lettering. I shared with her the name for our daughter and the meaning we wished to display. She took that and ran with her vision and created such a beautiful reminder for Elyse to have on display in her room. I love the simplicity and beauty that hand lettering provides to any room. It is such a special way to leave reminders around the house to encourage and uplift you and those who see it. It takes the words that I could just scribble down to offer the reminders I need throughout the day and makes them something worth being put on display.

Betsy has an incredible heart and has been such a joy to work with. She also has her very own blog, so make sure you stop by her corner of the internet to hear more of her heart. You can also follow her on Twitter and Instagram. For now, hear what she has to say below:

How did you get started with Heavens to Betsy? I started Heavens to Betsy Handmade after a lot of prayer and some nudging from friends!  I’ve always enjoyed playing around with handwriting and started falling in love with hand lettering as art.  I’m a terrible artist when it comes to drawing or painting, but words…words I can handle!  After posting photos of my hand lettering doodles and constantly being asked if I had an Etsy shop, I finally started one last fall.  I knew that I wanted the shop to be a creative outlet in more ways than one, so I also added knit items to it (and maybe someday, will feature other things as well!).

What does Heavens to Betsy specialize in creating? Heavens to Betsy Handmade currently features hand lettered prints and cozy knit items.  The goal is that all of my products inspire and comfort…whether it be through a print hanging on your wall or a scarf around your neck!
What are some of your favorite things to create? That’s so hard!  I love designing prints and I love thinking about my work hanging in someone’s home.  But at the same time, I love knitting too!  I’m a little bit of a scarf addict, so it’s always really exciting to think about my work completing someone’s outfit!  I’d say any work that I’m extremely proud of (or that I don’t want to let go of) is my favorite. I still have this scarf hanging on my wall, and I can’t wait for someone to purchase it, but I also love looking at it!
Where does the name behind your shop come from? The name behind my shop actually came from my blog, Heavens to Betsy.  It just felt like a natural extension to connect the two.  And the blog name originated from the old adage “heavens to Betsy!”.  My name is Betsy and sometime in college, I started saying “heavens to me!” instead.  When I decided to rebrand my blog after graduation, Heavens to Betsy seemed like the right choice!
The heart behind the shop:  One of my goals with HTB Handmade has been to give back, so a portion of all profits from the shop go to a charity of my choice each month!

Betsy has graciously decided to offer one of you a free print of your choice from her shop. You can enter the Rafflecopter below AND visit my Instagram for even more chances to win. If you’re anything like me, you probably can’t wait that long, so make sure you take a look at her shop too. I guarantee you’ll find something simply beautiful.

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
