The excitement you see in a child’s eyes as they’re waking up on Christmas morning is unexplainable. The child rises at the sight of first sunlight with an eagerness to see what was left under the Christmas tree just for them. The thought of receiving the items that they so carefully decided to put on their Christmas list is unbearable. There is a tremendous amount of joy when this child receives their much awaited gift.
I’m sure you remember these moments as a child, maybe just the thought of those precious memories bring a smile to your face. I am sure most of you can recall your favorite Christmas gift or your favorite Christmas memory. Some gifts are just so special they’re impossible to forget.
We have a chance at attaining a gift that is far more than any Christmas gift. This is a gift that is freely extended to us without needing to give anything in return, without having a debt to pay.
This special gift is grace.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
