The Power Of God In You Is Powerful

One thing I absolutely love about Kids Ministry is the
simplicity of it. We don’t have to over think things when communicating them to
children. Children are just so simple minded and they are so accepting of the
Gospel, they don’t feel the need to question everything they hear. The Gospel
message in itself is simple – it’s not supposed to be complicated. God didn’t
put everything in code where we would have to search out the true meaning
behind everything we read, He just said what needed to be said. When presenting
the Gospel to children, we’re able to communicate the Gospel in the simplest
way, so simple that even sometimes something that we’ve heard a hundred times
can hit us an entirely different way. Something about the simple way the Gospel
is put when communicating to children opens doors into our own lives to really
grasp on to what God’s word is telling us.

At James River we have a Big Idea in every service. The Big
Idea is just a simple statement that is based off the Bible lesson that is easy
for the kids to remember. We all know that kids get restless, and we know that
sometimes they just zone out. We also know that the more a child hears
something, the more likely they are to remember it when they leave. That is
where the Big Idea comes in. If the kids leave not remembering anything else
from the Bible lesson, we want them to at least remember the Big Idea. When
their parents ask them what they learned at church that morning, we want the
kids to be able to respond with the Big Idea and the parents know exactly what
they learned.

This past Sunday we were teaching the kids about the power
of God in our lives. We shared the Bible story about Peter and the power of God
working through him to heal people just by his shadow. The Big Idea from that
morning was, “God’s power in me is powerful.” When God’s power is living on the
inside of you, there is nothing stopping you from doing great and wonderful
things. Why? Because the power of God is in you, and that power is powerful.

Later this week I was thinking back to what the Big Idea
was, that simple statement just kept coming to mind. Finally I took the time
and stopped and said it out loud – God’s power in me is powerful. The minute I
said those words I immediately felt the power of God just rush over me. God’s
power in ME is powerful. Such a simple statement, such a simple concept, yet
there is so much power behind those words. With the power of God behind me,
there is nothing that I cannot do.

Peter was nothing without the power of God behind him. There
is no way that his shadow would have healed anyone; there is no way that he
himself would have even healed someone without the power of God behind Him.
With the power of God in Peter’s life, and with him operating in that power,
what was once impossible was made possible. That same power that Peter had in
his life is the same power that God offers to us in our own lives. God doesn’t withhold
His power in our lives; some of us just choose not to operate in it. But why
would we choose not to take hold of such a valuable tool that God desires to
give us in our life? Doing so wouldn’t make much sense at all.

When the power of God is behind you in life there truly is
nothing that you cannot do. In tough decisions, the power of God will stand
behind you and strengthen you. When you feel like your dreams are too big for
you to carry out, the power of God will work through you. When you feel like it’s
too hard to push through, the power of God will stand beside you. When you feel
like life is wearing you down, the power of God will hold you up. When you feel
like you are raging a war, the power of God will intercede through you. The
power of God through you is powerful.

Take the time to say that to yourself, speak it over
yourself with confidence. The power of God in you is powerful. The power of God
in you is powerful.

The power of God in me is powerful.

Operate in the power that God has given you and you will see
the difference that it can make.

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
