Last night we finally got some rain in what seems like
forever. I am sure most of you can identify with the drought many places have
been facing this summer with the extensive heat and the lack of rain. I
absolutely love thunder storms, I am not so much a fan of them when I have to
be at work, they just make me lazy. I love when I can sit at home and listen to
the thunder and pouring rain, maybe curl up with a cozy blanket and a book. To
me, rainy weather is just lazy weather.
Unfortunately I still had to drive in the rain, which I am
not a big fan of. I had Zumba class last night, and I wasn’t going to let a
little rain stop me. It was pouring down rain the entire way there, and I was
pretty much drenched by the time I made it in to the gym. Throughout my class the
rain died down and as I was leaving the sky was the most beautiful I had seen
in awhile. The sun was beginning to poke through the clouds, and you could
still see it as it was setting in the distance. There was a beautiful rainbow
that you could just faintly see as the sun was appearing more through the clouds.
Sometimes you forget how beautiful it can be after a storm.

As I was leaving and saw this beautiful sight, I really felt
God whisper to my heart something simple and so profound. “Even after a storm
my promise still stands.” I was immediately just filled to overflowing with
those encouraging and life giving words from my Heavenly Father.

We all know that the rainbow is a symbol of God’s promise to
Noah that He would not flood the earth again. After every storm it serves as
our reminder of that promise God made a long time ago. In this moment I felt
that it meant so much more than that, as I felt that God was using it as a picture
to convey a message. “Even after every storm my promise still stands.” I
believe that God wasn’t just talking about the amazing thunderstorm we had last
night, but He was also talking about the storms of life.

In life we all face troubles, our own personal storms that
we each have to go through. God wants us to know that through that His promise
still stands. God promises that He will never leave nor forsake us. (Heb. 13:5)
God promises that He will be our strength in times of trouble. (Ps. 46:1) God
promises us that He will give us wisdom and discernment to make the right
decisions. (James 1:5) God promises that He will comfort us in all areas of
life. (2 Cor. 1:4) God promises us that as long as we trust in Him, He will
take care of us not matter what. (Prov. 3:5)

I don’t know what you’re facing in life, what storms that
you may be facing or how discouraged you may be right now. No matter what, one
thing still stands true, after every storm God’s promise still stands. Just as
the rainbow symbolizes His promise to never flood the earth again, His word
promises that you will never be alone.
