Spring is here and it's time to boost the curb appeal of your home! Check out these simple tips for your home!

We have just hit the six month anniversary of buying our first home. It was an incredible journey getting to this point, and having a house to call our own is incredibly special. I have loved every moment of making this house a home, our home. Making a house a home definitely takes some time, it doesn’t happen over night. But slowly we pick an area and focus on making it live up to our dream home.

One of our big projects this spring was to focus on boosting the curb appeal of our home. The front of our house needed a lot of work. It wasn’t a mess, bu there just was so much distracting from the beauty of our home. A broken mailbox, an over crowded flower bed, and some previous owners being over zealous for rocks…everywhere. Needless to say, there was definitely some love we wanted to put into our home before hosting and entertaining this summer.

We have started with a few little projects, and even though our list isn’t completed, it is amazing to see what a difference the few things we have done have made! I love pulling up to our home and having it feel welcoming right away. Not to mention, I can actually see our beautiful home now. If you’re looking for some ideas to spruce up the curb appeal of your home, I’ve got a few ideas for you.

5 Ways to Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal:

1. Give your mailbox a makeover. It’s amazing what a little TLC to your mailbox can do to the curb appeal of your home. When we moved in we had a plastic mailbox that would not stay closed for anything. So we knew that we were going to need to replace it with a different one so our mail wasn’t falling out. We replaced it with a black metal one and decided to paint the post with a dark stain. I couldn’t believe how much a fresh coat of stain made a difference.

2. Spruce up your doorway. When you are entertaining, the first thing people notice is your doorway! Add a welcome mat, maybe a sign on your door, and a few flowers and your home looks inviting before someone even walks in the door.

3. Give the front of your house a little clean up. When we had inspections on our house, there was a tree in the front right against the house. The inspector told us it would be a priority to remove the tree so the roots didn’t get into messing with the foundation of our home. We knew that we would be taking this tree out as soon the spring weather hit. Since we were cleaning up the tree, we got to thinking, some of those bushes in front of house really aren’t that pretty. Our goal is to get it all cleaned up, remove the rocks, and plants some flowers instead. For now, we went ahead and pulled out the pine bushes and the big tree against the house and I can’t believe what a difference it made. You can actually see our house now! I mean seriously, I shared what it looked like before on Instagram and it’s a huge difference! Being able to see the house really shows off the beauty of the home and why we loved it so much! It goes to show that careful thought to what you put in front of your home can make a big difference.

4. Feed your lawn. To get those beautiful green lawns, you have to feed your lawn the good stuff. I found this Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food at Wal-Mart and put it to the test. Feeding our lawn helped to give it that nice green look we need and fill in those spots that needed some help. We pulled up some stepping stones that were oddly placed, filled them with soil, and added in the Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food with essential nutrients for deeper greening. It has the ability to cover up to 5,000 square feet was perfect for what we needed to get done!

The WIZZ™ Spreader is an easy option to help with spreading the lawn food so we picked that up as well. It is battery operated and super easy to use to spread lawn food in smaller areas. It made for little hand fatigue and still holds up to 2,500 square feet of Scotts Lawn care products. It was definitely a quick and easy option when it came to spreading. Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food really helped us to achieve a fresh and full green look for all our entertaining this summer.

5. Plant some flowers. Do I even need to say anything more here? Flowers are beautiful! We have the goal to get the bed in the front of the house all cleaned up and plant some flowers there, but for now adding some to our mailbox area was perfect. It defines the area and gives it a fresh look. Also, flowers just make me happy.

You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love You deserve to exist, with the same grace and love that you so freely give to your family. It’s not just about holding space for them; it’s about holding space for you, too.

You don’t have to shrink yourself to make room for others.

You deserve to take up space too.
Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive becom Sometimes, the habits that helped us survive become the hardest to unlearn. Those patterns once kept you safe, but now you’re learning they don’t need to anymore.

Give yourself grace—you’re unlearning survival. Healing takes time, and with each layer you peel back, you’re discovering the person you’ve always been beneath the survival.

And if you’re anything like me, you’ll really learn to love her. ❤️
✨ NEW SEASON ✨ I’m not a big fan of change. ✨ NEW SEASON ✨

I’m not a big fan of change. My nervous system gets all panicky and tends to over research every possibility that could take place. It likes to tell me safety is in the details.

But I know that’s not true.

This year has been a big year of growth for me in this department. Trauma told me control was my safety, but the truth was all I ever had was a false sense of control.

This year has offered plenty of opportunities for me to say, “Okay God, you have my yes, wherever that leads.”

No over research. No over analyzing. No predicting every possibility. No trying to control the outcome.

Just a heart that says, “Yes.”

Even when I don’t understand. Even when I’m nervous how it will turn out. Even when it feels like right now isn’t bad. Even when my heart’s confused.

Even when….

God has been asking us both a lot lately, “Do I have your yes, no matter what that looks like?” Friday was the end of a season for Chad working at the Appliance Guys, and today starts a new season of a new company. It was NOT an easy decision, and it came with a lot of tears (mainly from me - are you surprised?). His boss, where he’s been for the last almost six years, has been an incredible support for our family as we walked through some of the hardest seasons of our family. They will always hold a special place in our heart.

But God said “it’s time” and my faith-filled husband said “Yes.” I have to admit, I don’t envy how hard this decision was for him. It affects us both, yes. But he had to walk it out. And I’m so grateful for His leadership and faith to Jesus to step into the next season when there are so many unknowns.

Sometimes, all God wants to know is does He have our “YES” no matter what that means. No matter what that changes.

May I live my life in a way that has an open heart to hear from God and a willingness to say “YES” even when….

(PS he was so thrilled I made him take this photo. 😂 But I know this season will be one we forever ever want to remember, because God always shows His faithfulness).
I wonder if they would have chosen life for her. I wonder if they would have chosen life for her.

I wonder if they would have seen what was growing inside of her, and the fight that was about to come on the other side, if they would have said her life was worth saving.

I wonder if they would have discounted her before she had a chance.

I wonder if they would have made a prediction about her quality of life and deemed her not worth the cost.

I wonder if they would have saw the life saving measures she would need and decided that it was worse to let her live.

I wonder if they would have saw everything that could go wrong, the bleak prognosis, and compared her to statistics.

I wonder if they would have made a choice to encourage a decision that robbed us all of the miracle we see today.

Whether 48 hours or 4 years - her life has changed mine for the better. It’s heartbreaking to think someone may have once told me she wasn’t worth it.
