I know you’re exhausted mama.
It’s not easy doing your job. Maybe you’re in the middle of
nursing a newborn and your life is filled with sleepless nights. Maybe you’re
counting the minutes of peace between each toddler meltdown questioning if
you’re going to make it through to the end of the day. Maybe you’re playing
taxi running your kids from one place to another and have completely forgotten
what it’s like to have an hour at home at all. You’re in the thick of
motherhood and it’s exhausting. You find yourself in the midst of yet another
moment and you question how you’re going to survive.

moment and you question how you’re going to survive.
Mama, I have been there. I have questioned if I would
survive to see bedtime. I have questioned if I would survive until my husband
returned from work. I have questioned if I would survive through this season to
even have the chance to experience the next.

In my desperate plea for survival I felt God whisper to my
heart, “I want you to do more than survive, I want you to thrive.”

Take that in for a moment. If you’re like me you may
question how that is even possible. When you’re in the thick of this motherhood
thing, where you are just saying to yourself please just let me survive today,
is it possible you can really thrive?

Yes mama, it is.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9a NIV)
weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9a NIV)
God wants so much more for us then just to survive through
motherhood, God desires for us to thrive. God desires for us to really succeed
in this motherhood thing and the way to do that is to rely on His strength.
When we are weak, when we are barely surviving, it’s His strength that give us
what we need to make it through. It is Him that fills in the gaps where we are
lacking. It’s Him who empowers us to thrive in this calling of motherhood.

So mama, when you’re exhausted, remember you were never
meant to do this alone. You were never asked to survive this crazy thing we
call motherhood. You were called to thrive in motherhood. You can do just that
by remembering that when you’re weak, He is strong. You do what you can mama
and you do all you can, but don’t stress out about the gap that’s left, because
it’s God who fills in that space and causes you to thrive in this thing we call
motherhood.
